Another one of my goals was submit a photo into a contest! This was relatively easy for me because I am a staff member for the school newspaper and each year we have things submitted to a contest. MIPA stands for the Michigan Interscholastic Press Association. Three of my photos won awards. I received two honorable mentions and third place. I was pretty surprised because my photos were pretty mediocre and schools from all across Michigan submitted pieces to be judges.
| This photo was awarded third place in the category of environmental portrait. |
As I briefly covered in my last post, I recently learned the basics of long exposure photography. As I was about to go to bed, I saw my camera sitting on my shelf all lonely. I figured I had sometime waste before going to bed so I gave long exposure another shot. I am impressed with how the photos turned out. As soon as I figured out the settings needed for long exposure, the pictures started turning out better and better. Now that I can do the basics fundamentals of long exposure, my goal is to become more creative in what I take pictures of.
Until next time!

Congrats on your MIPA awards! The first attachment isn't working, however your long exposure photos look great! Now that you're getting into long exposure, there are endless techniques you can apply. Campbell Bortel has some really amazing long exposure photos on his Instagram account @ luminography. You should check it out!
ReplyDeleteGreat images and congrats on your awards!!! Have you thought about a more challenging and risky submission to another photography contest? I would have loved to see your photography included in the Dow High literary magazine! I can see you are pushing yourself to try new things. Enjoyed the video...was it hard to put together? What do you love about it?
